Front Load Dumpsters: Frequently Asked Questions

So, you operate a commercial business or non-profit organization and realize that you want to reevaluate your waste management options. Or perhaps you’re starting a new commercial venture and need to line up some waste management services. You have probably seen the dumpers that are outside many businesses and apartment buildings… And the truck that comes along and lifts the entire dumpster over the front of the truck and deposits the trash into the back. These are called front load dumpsters, and they are the best option for perpetual use. (For a more temporary waste management solution, read about roll-off dumpsters here.) Renting a front load dumpster is a simple process. However, in our experience we have come across some frequently asked questions… We have answered some of them for you below:

How do I know if I need a front load dumpster?

We have found that the following types of places may need a front load dumpster: office buildings; restaurants and hotels; churches and places of worship; shopping and retail centers; schools and universities; sports, recreation and other entertainment facilities; apartments and condos; and other businesses. Front load dumpsters come in both flat top and slant top models.

Where will the front load dumpster be placed?

You select the place that provides the easiest access for you on your property. The space should be away from traffic and preferably not close to any doors into the building. Easy access for dumping trash and pick-up is also a consideration. We are available to offer suggestions as to exactly where the front load dumpster should be placed on the property.

Are there restrictions on what I can put into a front load dumpster?

Toxic and hazardous chemicals and materials should never be placed in a front load dumpster. These include—but are not limited to—paints, tires, petroleum products, car batteries and electronics. If you decide to rent a front-load dumpster, be sure to request a comprehensive list of prohibited items.

How do I load a front load dumpster?

The only requirement is that the dumpster not be overloaded or exceed weight specifications. This means that nothing should be piled above the top or hanging over the side of the dumpster.

How much are front load dumpsters?

The price varies depending on the size of the dumpster, the type of debris, the weight of the debris, your area and how often you require pick-up. When considering your options, remember that many companies require you to enter into a long-term contact.

At Patriot our commercial waste management services are offered at a consistent, fair rate, with no annual contracts, and no hidden fees or taxes.

How often will my trash be picked up?

You will need to check directly with providers. At Patriot, we are flexible. You can arrange to have your trash picked up on a regular schedule, such as weekly or biweekly. Or we can arrange pick-up when needed.

Do I need any permits for a front load dumpster?

If you are a commercial property owner, you do not need any permits. If you are leasing a space, you may want to check your lease agreement or speak with the property manager or owner.
